चंद्रधर शर्मा गुलेरी


चंद्रधर शर्मा गुलेरी [ जन्म - १८८३ ६० : मृत्यु - १९२२ ई० ] गुलेरीजीका जन्म काँगड़ा प्रान्तके गुलेर गांवमें हुआ था । इस लिए उनके नामः साथ ' गुलेरी ' जुड़ गया है । ये संस्कृत , प्राकृत , अंग्रेजी , पुरातत्त्व और भाषाशास्त्रक अच्छे जानकार थे । इन्होंने प्रयाग विश्वविद्यालय में बी० ए० की परीक्षा प्रथम श्रेणीमें पास की । इनकी योग्यता और विद्वताको देखकर मेयो कॉलेज , अजमेर अधिकारियोंने इन्हें तुरन्त संस्कृत का प्राध्यापक नियुक्त कर दिया । कुछ समयके वाद १९२० में ये हिन्दु विश्वविद्यालय , बनारसमें कॉलेज ऑफ ओरियन्टल लनग एण्ड थियोलॉजी प्रिसिपाल नियुक्त हुए । विश्वविद्यालय की सेवास मुक्त होकर ये जयपुरकी ज्योतिष वेधशालाक अधीक्षक बने । | अपने जीवन - कालमें गलेरीजीने केवल तीन ही कहानियां लिखी । पहली सुखमय जीवन दुसरी ‘ वका कांटा ' और तीसरी उसने कहा था । इस तीसरी कहानी के कारण गुलेरीजोका नाम हिन्दी कहानीकारोंम अमर हो गया । यह कहानी अक्तूबर १९ में ' सर स्वती ' में प्रकाशित हुई थी । तबसे लेकर आज तक इसकी लोकप्रियता ज्योकी त्यों बनी हुई है । इस कहानीमें प्रेम और बलिदानका बड़ा ही सूक्ष्म और मासिक चित्रण हुआ है । कहानीनी भाषा और शैली सी बड़ी चुस्त और दुरुस्त है । .
